About Me

I'm a reader who enjoys posting comments and recommendations about the books I read. You will not find a synopsis with my recommendations because you can just click on the book title for a link to www.goodreads.com for a synopsis and reviews by other readers. I prefer the 3 Reason format: the reason I chose to read it; the reason I liked (or disliked) the book; and the reason I recommend it.

Two Great-Grand Aunts Identified

I wondered if I would be able to connect these pictures to our current family.
Some ancestor was kind enough to write names on the back of these photos, but I had not come into possession of these pictures until after the death of my husband's aunt.
"How are you related to these people," I questioned my husband and my father-in-law. It is a question I often ask at family reunions and gatherings. Even the living I don't know well enough to remember when I see them infrequently. The caption on the back of the picture on the left was Aunt Kate and Uncle Phil Henn and the caption on the picture on the right was Aunt Minnie Gregg. My father-in-law did not remember how he might be related to any Henn or Gregg.
With the help of Legacy Family Tree software, I found the connection. I searched my the name Kate and the name Minnie. I eliminated the Kates/Catherines and Minnies from my ancestral lines and husband's maternal lines, and I found a Kate married to Philip Henn and a Minnie married to Edgar Gregg.
Kate was the sister of my father-in-law's grandfather. She died when my father-in-law was only four years old and that is why he would not have recognized her.
Minnie is another sister of the grandfather of my father-in-law.She died more than fifty years ago.
