I'm a reader who enjoys posting comments and recommendations about the books I read. You will not find a synopsis with my recommendations because you can just click on the book title for a link to www.goodreads.com for a synopsis and reviews by other readers. I prefer the 3 Reason format: the reason I chose to read it; the reason I liked (or disliked) the book; and the reason I recommend it.

The Southern Belles of Honeysuckle WayThe Southern Belles of Honeysuckle Way by Linda Bruckheimer

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This book had potential, and it did not live up to it. It's a wonder its characters aren't clucking their tongues and saying, "It's jest a shame that had to happen." I liked the characters; it was the plot and storyline that disappointed me.

The HelpThe Help by Kathryn Stockett

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The librarian recommended this as a possible book club selection, and I did not read it until after our book club disbanded. I wish we had discussed this as most members of our club were born after the Civil Rights movement. Our discussions might have been lively. This book tells an interesting story of an historical time.

I rate a book with 5 stars when I want to press the book into hands of acquaintances and say, "You have got to read this!" It was so good I shushed my husband when he asked a question while I was reading.

The 9th Judgment (Women's Murder Club Series #9)The 9th Judgment by James Patterson

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This was the first James Patterson book I read, and it did not impress me enough to seek out any of his other books. I gave it two stars because it was an entertaining fast read and there is a market for books like this; but, I don't think I'm its target market.

61 Hours (Jack Reacher Series, #14)61 Hours by Lee Child

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this action-adventure book. Book #14 was my introduction to the character of Jack Reacher, and I'm likely to start adding earlier books in the series to my "to-read" shelf.

Journeys of a Lifetime: 500 of the World's Greatest TripsJourneys of a Lifetime: 500 of the World's Greatest Trips by National Geographic Society

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Before reading this book I would have never imagined there is The Great Pub Crawl in Australia where the designated driver is the pilot who flies you from pub to pub. It sounded like great fun. This is perfect gift for an armchair traveler or for the person in charge of vacation itineraries. Websites are given for each trip for more research.

AngelAngel by Colleen McCullough

It only rated 2 stars as it is a character-driven novel whose characters I did not like. I had higher hopes for this book when I started reading it.
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Aerial Tram and Wildlife Park, Royal Gorge, 27 Aug 2010

The next ride we wanted to do was the Aerial Tram because this was the world's longest single-span aerial tram. Its length is 2,200 feet and the height above the Arkansas River is 1,178 feet.
Once we were across we walked through the Rocky Mountain Elk area of the Wapiti Western Wildlife Park down to Point Sublime for more pictures of Royal Gorge.
The ranger at the park gave us good advice that morning to drive across the bridge, walk across the bridge to take the world's steepest incline railway and start the world's longest single span aerial tram from the visitor center. For then, the walk is downhill from Point Sublime through the Wildlife Park to our car.
There were several attractions we did not have time to do before the time arrived for our trip back to Colorado Springs airport and our flights home. We did not have time for the petting zoo, the burro rides, and the mule rides.
The one attraction we did not consider doing was the Royal Rush Skycoaster. Those riders were strapped into harnesses in a Superman position, pulled back to a height of about 100 ft. and then swung at a speed of up to 50 mph until they are 1,300 feet above the Arkansas River. There were adrenaline junkies paying the price to do it. We heard one guy scream from about a half-mile away!

Incline Ride, Royal Gorge, 27 Aug 2010

The ride we most wanted to do at Royal Gorge Bridge and Park was the Incline down to the Arkansas River and back up again. The ride did not disappoint us. The canyon walls are so narrow and steep, the Arkansas River is so turbulent, and the sky was so blue.
