I'm a reader who enjoys posting comments and recommendations about the books I read. You will not find a synopsis with my recommendations because you can just click on the book title for a link to www.goodreads.com for a synopsis and reviews by other readers. I prefer the 3 Reason format: the reason I chose to read it; the reason I liked (or disliked) the book; and the reason I recommend it.

Canada's Wilderness Lands (Special Publications Series 17)Canada's Wilderness Lands by Donald J. Crump

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

For the purpose of this book, Canada's wilderness lands are divided into five sections and five teams provide coverage by text and photographs. Yva Momatiuk and John Eastcott provided both text and and photographs. Louis de la Haba, James Conaway, Thomas O'Neill and Ron Fischer wrote text and Richard A. Cooke III, Stephen J. Krasemann, Paul von Balch, and Sam Abell provide the photos.

The Perfect Heresy : The Revolutionary Life and Death of the Medieval CatharsThe Perfect Heresy : The Revolutionary Life and Death of the Medieval Cathars by Stephen O'Shea

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book contains the notes, selected biography and index that reflect the amount of scholarship that went into the writing of this book. The narrative is compelling enough to read all of the book. If you are only interested in why Languedoc-Rossillon tourisme says, Bienvenue en Pays Cathare, then reading the introduction and epilogue may be sufficient to separate history from souvenir-vendor hype.

For Richer, For DangerFor Richer, For Danger by Lisa Bork

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I recommend it only to fans of the series. I was a bit frustrated with the heroine worry-warting about her husband, her sister, and her friend Corey instead of just talking to them directly for I am more interested in the mystery than I am about the relationships. Of course, another reader may prefer the emotional drama.

Languedoc-RoussillonLanguedoc-Roussillon by Lonely Planet Publications

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It was enjoyable as armchair-travel reading. It was excellent for planning. It is worth the fifth star for it is the guidebook I shall carry with me on my travels in this region. It mentions the city sites as do other guides; and what makes it special to me is the mention of the wild areas and the outdoor, adventurous activities such as hiking, bicycle riding, wind-surfing, canoeing and more.

Southern France: An Oxford Archaeological Guide (Oxford Archaeological Guides)Southern France: An Oxford Archaeological Guide by Henry Cleere

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The introduction explained the chronology of the archaeology of this region, and it will help me appreciate what I see when I visit the Languedoc-Roussillon region.

After reading quotes from this book in other reviews, I set myself up to expect too much from it.
