About Me

I'm a reader who enjoys posting comments and recommendations about the books I read. You will not find a synopsis with my recommendations because you can just click on the book title for a link to www.goodreads.com for a synopsis and reviews by other readers. I prefer the 3 Reason format: the reason I chose to read it; the reason I liked (or disliked) the book; and the reason I recommend it.

The Friendship Crisis: Finding, Making, and Keeping Friends When You're Not a Kid AnymoreThe Friendship Crisis: Finding, Making, and Keeping Friends When You're Not a Kid Anymore by Marla Paul
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book seems to be directed at other women-divorced, widowed, young professional, and stay-at-home moms. She offers advice about building a community. She reassures the reader it is OK to have both acquaintances and friends. I'm not sure she completely explains why younger friends want to be part of your surrogate family. Online friends are discussed. It still seems like too much effort is required to maintain adult friendships.

Live Free: Eliminate the If Onlys and What Ifs of LifeLive Free: Eliminate the If Onlys and What Ifs of Life by Kendra Smiley
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This ebook was free when I downloaded it from Barnes and Noble to my Nook library. I enjoy inspirational books, and I do not enjoy heavy handed proselytizing from born-again Christians.
This book offers study questions at the end of each chapter so it might be suitable for a Christian book club, and that target market is the only one to whom I might recommend this book.

Bad Habits No More: 25 Steps to Break Any Bad HabitBad Habits No More: 25 Steps to Break Any Bad Habit by Steve Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This kindle book was free from a link in 10 Minute Digital Decluttering . Reading this book during the planning stages for New Year's resolutions seemed appropriate.
I like the 25 steps because I can see where I had been missing some pieces while I previously tried to break some habits. I had not previously recorded Habit triggers (#10) and I often too quickly gave up for the "What-The-Hell effect (#21). Two topics were new to me: Hot-Cold Empathy Gap and Ego Depletion, and they explained some past failings.
I recommend this book to all readers.
