I'm a reader who enjoys posting comments and recommendations about the books I read. You will not find a synopsis with my recommendations because you can just click on the book title for a link to www.goodreads.com for a synopsis and reviews by other readers. I prefer the 3 Reason format: the reason I chose to read it; the reason I liked (or disliked) the book; and the reason I recommend it.

War on the Frontier: The Trans-Mississippi WestWar on the Frontier: The Trans-Mississippi West by Alvin M. Josephy Jr.
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is another of the Time-Life series, The Civil War. It has been in my home library since 1987.
The text is a discussion of many battles I was previously unaware.
I recommend it to those who study the Civil War.

Calamity Jayne (Calamity Jayne, #1)Calamity Jayne by Kathleen Bacus
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I downloaded this ebook from Barnes and Noble when it was free. I expected a cozy mystery with a touch of screwball comedy that might be witty.
I was disappointed as it is not witty; it was just dumb, annoying, and irritating.
I do not reccomend this book.

Come Rain or Come ShineCome Rain or Come Shine by Jan Karon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I requested this Kindle edition from my local library since I have been a fan of the series for many years.
This book feels like a wrap-up to the series, or at least a synopsis of what happened to EVERYONE in Mitford since the last book. To me, that took away from a story about wedding preparations, the wedding, and its reception.
I can only recommend it to fans of the series. It can not be read as a stand-alone.

Lights Out: A Cyberattack, A Nation Unprepared, Surviving the AftermathLights Out: A Cyberattack, A Nation Unprepared, Surviving the Aftermath by Ted Koppel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I read the book because I was interested in what Ted Koppel had to say about the subject. I live in a rural area where the electricity may go off for hours at a time, especially during icy conditions so you learn to prepare for situations like that and trust your utility company is working hard to restore power. In recent years, there was a severe wind storm that knocked out power in our region. My power was restored within a day, but there were some people who were without power for a week.
These problems are, for the most part, with poles and lines; they are not problems Koppel wants to discuss about computer communication for control over systems and equipment.
Koppel can be repetitive at times. He gives stuff to think about and discuss with others.
This book could be one to recommend to a book club.
