About Me

My photo
I'm a reader who enjoys posting comments and recommendations about the books I read. You will not find a synopsis with my recommendations because you can just click on the book title for a link to www.goodreads.com for a synopsis and reviews by other readers. I prefer the 3 Reason format: the reason I chose to read it; the reason I liked (or disliked) the book; and the reason I recommend it.

Waterfall (River of Time, #1)Waterfall by Lisa Tawn Bergren
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was free when I downloaded it to my Nook library from Barnes and Noble. I previously read another free book by this author and enjoyed it so I put the rest of the free ebooks by this author closer together on my to-read list.
I recommend it for readers who enjoy books in this genre: a YA with heroines who are 17 and 15 years old with a storyline based on time-traveling.

Gods and Kings (Chronicles of the Kings, #1)Gods and Kings by Lynn Austin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This Nook book was free when I downloaded it from Barnes and Noble.
I recommend it only to readers who have an interest in an expanded retelling of the life of Hezekiah from his childhood to the beginning of his reign as king of Judah. This book is the first of a trilogy.

The Budapest HouseThe Budapest House by Marcus Ferrar
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This book was free when I downloaded it to my Nook library from Barnes and Noble.
I was disappointed in the structure of this book because it confused me when it told more stories than those of Frances and her family. It contains stories from the writer, from George Soros, and from other people, and when it tells those stories I was confused by that person using familiar terms: whose Grandfather without using the name of that individual. Why does this story not end when she sells the Budapest House?
Scholars may find this book useful, in their search for details about these periods of history in Hungary; but it is not for a reader looking to be entertained.

RaylanRaylan by Elmore Leonard
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I requested these books because I enjoyed the tv series, Justified and I enjoy the writing by Elmore Leonard.
The antagonists are as interesting as Raylan.
I recommend this to readers who enjoy interesting characters.

Lions of the WestLions of the West by Robert Morgan
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I was disappointed by how this book rambled and yet always seemed to jump to the conclusion of the author and therefore must prove his point.
I do not recommend this book.
