I'm a reader who enjoys posting comments and recommendations about the books I read. You will not find a synopsis with my recommendations because you can just click on the book title for a link to www.goodreads.com for a synopsis and reviews by other readers. I prefer the 3 Reason format: the reason I chose to read it; the reason I liked (or disliked) the book; and the reason I recommend it.

Death of a Poison Pen (Hamish Macbeth, #19)Death of a Poison Pen by M.C. Beaton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have read some other Hamish Macbeth novels by M. C. Beaton, so when I saw it was Barnes and Noble's Serial Read for January 2018, I started to read it immediately.
#19 did not disappoint as this is a cozy mystery with 2 deaths that Hamish must investigate. This may be read as a stand-alone.
I recommend it to readers who prefer cozy mysteries.

We Never Asked for WingsWe Never Asked for Wings by Vanessa Diffenbaugh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I borrowed this Kindle edition from my local library because it is the February selection for my book club. This author is new to me.
I enjoyed the story and the characters. The topic is timely as DACA is an important part of the last third of the book.
I recommend it for all readers, and I recommend it for book club discussions.

Turtles All the Way DownTurtles All the Way Down by John Green
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I borrowed this ebook from my local library after I read the first chapter in BN.com's Readout app, and I read its setting is in Indianapolis which is near my new hometown.
I really like the characters in this Young Adult book. Sometimes the depiction of Aza's mental illness is hard to read. She is so lucky to have a good friend like Daisy.
I recommend it to all readers.

The DAM Book: Digital Asset Management for PhotographersThe DAM Book: Digital Asset Management for Photographers by Peter Krogh
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I borrowed this from my local library in order to learn more about metadata and workflow. I gave it 2 stars because I had to renew it 4 times in order to glean what I needed from this book because I shoot in .jpg and use Photoshop Elements 15 while Krogh discusses too many topics above my current knowledge base.
I had to make the leap from PSE10 to PSE15 when I had to replace my current laptop, and the transition was not as smooth as I hoped it would be for my hierarchal keywords suddenly became imported keyword tags sorted by numerical and alphabetical order. I hoped this book would help me learn to link metadata in the properties of each digital file with each upload, and it did that somewhat. I hoped to learn a workflow before I started a huge project of scanning family photo albums, and I did.
If you are a photographer who shoots in RAW and saves files as .dng, this book is likely to rate higher for you. If you already use Lightroom and Bridge, this book is likely to rate higher for you.

A Very Merry ChristmasA Very Merry Christmas by Cathy Lamb
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I downloaded this novella into my Nook library when Barnes and Noble offered it for free in 2017. It is a quick read because there are 3 teasers for more books by Cathy Lamb at the end.
It is entertaining and predictable. Enjoy it as you might have enjoyed one of Meredith's merengue cookies or pink cake.
