Death of a Poison Pen by M.C. Beaton

I have read some other Hamish Macbeth novels by M. C. Beaton, so when I saw it was Barnes and Noble's Serial Read for January 2018, I started to read it immediately.
#19 did not disappoint as this is a cozy mystery with 2 deaths that Hamish must investigate. This may be read as a stand-alone.
I recommend it to readers who prefer cozy mysteries.

This book was given to my by my aunt, and I am glad she did.
I laughed out loud twice the first day of reading this book.
I recommend it to all readers.  It can be a stand alone for new readers.

Death of a Scriptwriter by M.C. Beaton

This book was given to me by my aunt after she read it. This is #14 of the Hamish Macbeth mystery series.

The big question is what happens to a mystery writer when her books are out of print because they are out of fashion and outdated. A television production company wants to buy production rights, but neglects to tell the author they will update the book and add some racy, sexy scenes. The author's plot line and pacing kept me reading to the end of the book.

While it is fourteenth in the series, it can stand alone as a cozy mystery. I recommend it to readers who enjoy that genre.

Death of a Prankster by M.C. Beaton

I chose to take the book to read when flying and electronic devices cannot be turned on; it was a light-weight paperback which did not have to make the return journey.

This is the first book I read by Beaton, even though it is the seventh in its Hamish Macbeth series. It holds up well as an individual mystery of the cozy variety; it feels like playing a game of Clue with lots more rooms and lots more characters.

I recommend it to fans of cozy mysteries.
