I requested this from the library when I heard it was published in 2016. I enjoyed the previous Jane Ryland mysteries.
This mystery can stand alone; but I recommend readers of mysteries try all the books by Ms. Ryan.

The Wrong Girl by Hank Phillippi Ryan

I eagerly anticipated this second book of the Jane Ryland series for I like Ryan's choice of using a female protagonist who excels at investigative reporting instead of the stereotypical amateur. She needs the story and its byline for her career. The ethical standards Jane and Detective Jake Brogan must maintain to keep their jobs and careers prohibit a sexual relationship between the two of them.

New readers can start with this mystery or with the first of the series, The Other Woman.

I eagerly anticipated the release of the next novel by Hank Phillippi Ryan because I enjoyed other mysteries by this author.
The Other Woman is the first in a new series. Reporter Jane Ryland and Detective Jake Brogan work similar investigations in Boston. Acting on the attraction between Ryland and Brogan is not a good idea because a physical relationship might be unprofessional and it could lead to both of them being fired from their jobs.
This book has four murders to solve plus political suspense, and I recommend it to any reader of mysteries.

Drive Time by Hank Phillippi Ryan
Drive Time is the most recent book of a four-volume series and the premise of the series has the legs for a long run. Our heroine has reasons to investigate and expose as she is an Emmy-winning investigative reporter for a Boston-area TV station and her reputation is only as good as her last story. The investigated stories in each book are topical and educate the reader. In this most recent book, the reader wonders if the crimes of stealing air bags and cloning VIN numbers could be happening locally. Not only does the reader have a concern about crime; but, flaws within government bureacracy are revealed: why does NHTSA not coordinate its databases of recalls and repairs-done-in-response-to-recalls to help consumers know the repair status of second-hand or rental cars.
A personal life for Charlotte MacNally develops and continues with every book. She deveolps trust with some co-workers and tries to hid her contempt for others. She wonders how she will ever have family life when she has a job with the motto, "There are no weekends in journalism." Charlotte's concerns are recognizable by most adults today.
I highly recommend this series for readers of cozy mysteries.

Prime Time by Hank Phillippi Ryan

This is the first book in a series of four (so far) from Hank Phillippi Ryan. It is an enjoyable mystery with strong supporting characters. I will read the rest of this series before the year is over.
