I downloaded this Kindle book as part of a promotion by the author in July 2023. I heard about Goodwin's books because my hobby is genealogy.
I enjoyed the mystery. I am reluctant to recommend this book to readers who are not genealogists.
I no longer continue reading series when I do not care what happens to the lead character and the characters who surround him.

I downloaded this when Goodwin had an introductory special on two of his books.
The topic interests me because genealogy is a hobby of mine, and I enjoy reading historical fiction.
This is a prequel, and it ended two soon and included two additional chapters.
