About Me

I'm a reader who enjoys posting comments and recommendations about the books I read. You will not find a synopsis with my recommendations because you can just click on the book title for a link to www.goodreads.com for a synopsis and reviews by other readers. I prefer the 3 Reason format: the reason I chose to read it; the reason I liked (or disliked) the book; and the reason I recommend it.

Grinnell: America's Environmental Pioneer and His Restless Drive to Save the WestGrinnell: America's Environmental Pioneer and His Restless Drive to Save the West by John Taliaferro
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was on the New shelf of my local library, and the name Grinnell immediately attracted my attention as I have pleasant memories of Grinnell Mountain, Grinnell Glacier, and Grinnell Lake.
This is a well-written and well-researched biography of George Bird Grinnell who had such a full life and made such an effort to protect natural areas and the history of the West before they disappeared.
There were words used in the correspondence of educated men of the 19th century that sent me to my dictionary, and I am pleased to add them to my vocabulary. It is a long book but the last quarter of the book is Notes, Bibliography, and Index so that it may encourage research for others.
I recommend it for any reader who enjoys biography.

Blue Jeans and Coffee BeansBlue Jeans and Coffee Beans by Joanne DeMaio
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This ebook was the August 2019 Serial Reads selection from Barnes and Noble. I thought the characters sounded familiar, and I had previously read the third book from this series several years ago.
This first book in the series will lead the reader to the most recent 9th book in the series, Little Beach Bungalow.
