About Me

My photo
I'm a reader who enjoys posting comments and recommendations about the books I read. You will not find a synopsis with my recommendations because you can just click on the book title for a link to www.goodreads.com for a synopsis and reviews by other readers. I prefer the 3 Reason format: the reason I chose to read it; the reason I liked (or disliked) the book; and the reason I recommend it.

Dublin in Sketches and StoriesDublin in Sketches and Stories by Róisín Curé
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed the stories and sketches. I was given this book as a gift to remind me of my own trip to Dublin, and I recommend it to anyone who might be vacationing in Ireland to use for some suggestions of places to visit or to compare the details of Ms. Cure's sketches with what a tour might quickly show you.

Wasteland (Wasteland, #1)Wasteland by Susan Kim
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This has been in my Nook library since 2013 when Barnes and Noble offered it for free.
It is an adventure story set in a post-apocalyptic world in which there are Norms and Variants and too few resources.
The first book in the trilogy was enough for me.

How Not to Die: Discover the Foods Scientifically Proven to Prevent and Reverse DiseaseHow Not to Die: Discover the Foods Scientifically Proven to Prevent and Reverse Disease by Michael Greger
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is an important book, but it can be boring so I suggest you read it in small amounts at a time. It can also be scary when it seems to tell us we are not doing enough right and not soon enough.
But I slowly started adapting favorite recipes to WFPB by removing meats and dairy, and adding more greens to a salad mix, and I noticed I felt better.

Summary of Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones: Conversation StartersSummary of Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones: Conversation Starters by Paul Mani
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

As stated, this book is "Conversation Starters" as it provides questions for discussion of Clear's book. That was not what I wanted as I wanted a what I think of as a summary or simply chapter outlines.

An Urban Sketcher's GalwayAn Urban Sketcher's Galway by Róisín Curé
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book makes a wonderful souvenir if you have ever visited Galway, as I had the opportunity to do last year. It was given to me as a Christmas present.
If you are planning a trip to Galway, you might use this book for suggestions of places to visit during your stay.
I admire her urban sketches and other art on Instagram as roisincure and her website at https://roisincure.com .

My copy was published by currachbooks, and it contained 169 pages.

A Passion Most Pure (The Daughters of Boston, #1)A Passion Most Pure by Julie Lessman
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I finished it, and I was so annoyed at the way the author wrapped this up with a deus ex machina that I do not recommend it.

The Winemakers: A Novel of Wine and SecretsThe Winemakers: A Novel of Wine and Secrets by Jan Moran
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I downloaded it in Jan 2023 from Barnes and Noble.
There is plenty of family drama about secrets kept from each other. There are Discussion Questions at the end of the book. It is historical fiction from Italy during 1920s to California 1970s.
