I'm a reader who enjoys posting comments and recommendations about the books I read. You will not find a synopsis with my recommendations because you can just click on the book title for a link to www.goodreads.com for a synopsis and reviews by other readers. I prefer the 3 Reason format: the reason I chose to read it; the reason I liked (or disliked) the book; and the reason I recommend it.

Above the Bay of AngelsAbove the Bay of Angels by Rhys Bowen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I downloaded this when it was available for free with Prime-reading from Amazon. I have enjoyed many of the series by Rhys Bowen. This is a new, stand-alone novel. I was easily swept into the story of Isabella Waverly/Helen Barton.
I recommend it to readers who enjoy historical fiction set in Victorian times and to readers who are fans of books by Rhys Bowen.

Ten WomenTen Women by Marcela Serrano
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I downloaded this to my Kindle library when it was offered for free as part of Kindle's "Read the World" promotion in April 2018.
This is the story of ten unhappy women who see the same psychologist. Many of their stories include stories during the revolutions in Chile and Argentina that I had of only a slight knowledge.
This author does a good job of creating a feeling of empathy for these characters, If I read it in during a time when I was not concerned about the health of my family and friends during a pandemic, perhaps I might have given it a higher star. I cannot give it a higher star because it is not a book to lighten my mood

The Given (Celestial Blues, #3)The Given by Vicki Pettersson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this trilogy so much. I might have dismissed the first book, The Taken as a paranormal mystery and romance and never read it thinking I don't read books with a paranormal aspect to it. I would have missed out if I had done that.
Yes, I kept reading because the biggest mystery was not solved until this book, but I did not feel "cheated" as I often do when the mystery is continued through book 1 and 2.
I recommend this series!

5-Minute Sketching -- Architecture: Super-Quick Techniques for Amazing Drawings5-Minute Sketching -- Architecture: Super-Quick Techniques for Amazing Drawings by Liz Steel
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I started reading this April, 2019, and my skill level was not up to the topics and exercises she teaches in this book. 2020 gave me the opportunity to practice observation and drawing skills more. In 2021, I worked on a course about Urban Sketching from Sketchbook Skool where Ms. Steel taught for 18 lessons. These helped me better understand the information in this book. I recommend this article https://www.lizsteel.com/everydaysket... on her website because she continues to refine her skills at home before attempting 5 minute sketches on location.
I highly recommend this book. I kept it for reference.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There are so many techniques to learn about and practice mentioned in this book. Many of them are still above my skill level which is why I am keeping this book on my Store-for-reference shelf.
