About Me

My photo
I'm a reader who enjoys posting comments and recommendations about the books I read. You will not find a synopsis with my recommendations because you can just click on the book title for a link to www.goodreads.com for a synopsis and reviews by other readers. I prefer the 3 Reason format: the reason I chose to read it; the reason I liked (or disliked) the book; and the reason I recommend it.

Reckless Nights in Rome  (Ludlow Hall #1)Reckless Nights in Rome by C.C. MacKenzie
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I had to read 61% before this book even got to Rome. Don't waste your time.

The Elements of DrawingThe Elements of Drawing by John Ruskin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I started to read this classic (published in 1857) book of art instruction in 2018 when I first downloaded it from Project Gutenberg. I managed to move a copy to my Nook library in 2019 where I read some of it. It was no longer in my Nook library in Nov 2019 when the Overdrive app no longer worked on my Nook. I was able to finish reading the ebook on my Overdrive app on my laptop.
I took a star away from this classic because I am not sure today's readers will enjoy the sentence structure and prose style of a 19th century writer.

One Good DeedOne Good Deed by David Baldacci
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was recommended to me because my husband knew I liked detective/film noir movies. This is set in 1949 and Archer is being released from prison but he has to stick around to meet his parole obligations. There is a dame or two; town bullies; and a couple of murders that it seems the cops and the DA may try to pin on Archer.
Grab some popcorn and be your own casting director while your imagination spins this tale while reading it.

Wild Irish Rose (The Merriams, #1)Wild Irish Rose by Ava Miles
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This ebook was the Feb 2020 Serial Read from Barnes and Noble so I read it a chapter or group of chapters each day, until it was finished. I prefer to read a romance like this at a faster pace so maybe that is why it seemed to drag.

Bury What We Cannot TakeBury What We Cannot Take by Kirstin Chen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book has been in my Kindle library since March 2019, and I finally took the time to read it. I want to complain about when Amazon changes my "To Read" shelf to "Currently Reading" as it did months ago when I inadvertently open a book while swiping. It takes a few extra steps to put it back where I really want it to be. I also want to complain when Amazon moves a book I finished reading but did not finish the task of writing my Goodreads review for my own blog. Sometimes, Amazon you can be as annoying as a sibling messing with my stuff!.
I found this story to be suspenseful and I was worried for San-San. As much as I felt anxious and wanted to know how things turned out, I thought the ending was abrupt and left me with questions.
I highly recommend this book.

Drawing with Pen and InkDrawing with Pen and Ink by Arthur L. Guptill
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This Kindle book is aspirational reading for I have much to learn and more to practice. There are many exercises to do. Since the book was written in 1928, more types of pens have been developed so some of the book seems dated. This book is worth the effort.

Blue Moon (Jack Reacher, #24)Blue Moon by Lee Child
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was eager to read the next installment of the Jack Reacher series for I read them for entertainment. I was uncomfortable at how high the body count was for Reacher to get the job done in this one.

Executive Privilege (Dana Cutler, #1)Executive Privilege by Phillip Margolin
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This ebook has been in my Nook library since 2012 when I downloaded it from Barnes and Noble. The pacing of the story was good. There are just too many serial killers for this book to be something I would recommend to others.
