About Me

My photo
I'm a reader who enjoys posting comments and recommendations about the books I read. You will not find a synopsis with my recommendations because you can just click on the book title for a link to www.goodreads.com for a synopsis and reviews by other readers. I prefer the 3 Reason format: the reason I chose to read it; the reason I liked (or disliked) the book; and the reason I recommend it.

Swan LightSwan Light by Phoebe Rowe
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I downloaded this book when it was offered as a First Reads from my Prime membership, and it was shelved on April 3, 2023.
There are dual timelines to this story, and wondering how these will be connected pulls the reader along.
I recommend it to readers who enjoy books of historical fiction and marine archeology.

Any Given Snow Day (Hope's Turn Holidays #1)Any Given Snow Day by Marie Harte
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I downloaded this ebook to my Nook library on December 22, 2023 when it was offered as a Free Friday selection.
It had too much sexual content for this fuddy-duddy.

I'll Stop the WorldI'll Stop the World by Lauren Thoman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I downloaded this Kindle book to my Kindle library on March 9, 2023 when It was offered as a First Reads selection.
It seems as if it were written for a YA audience who might enjoy reading about teenage drama that is not their own, who might want to use the device of time travel in order to hope the world will be a better place.

The Bequest (The Birch Creek Ranch, #1)The Bequest by B.E. Baker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I started this when it was the Serial Read from Barnes and Noble for January 2024.
I switched to reading this ebook on the Hoopla app from my public library when I wanted to read the next chapter sooner than the Serial Reads timeline. The other reason I switched is my old Nooks do not use the system of scrolling down thru a chapter well: if I shift its position of the Nook, the place often reverts to the top of the page and I have to find my last read sentence again, and again, AND AGAIN. Yes, just easier to read with a library book on the Hoopla app.
I recommend this for readers of contemporary fiction about how these two women adjusted their lifeplans for their families.

The Blue-Ribbon Jalapeno Society Jubilee (The Cadillac Series #1)The Blue-Ribbon Jalapeno Society Jubilee by Carolyn Brown
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I downloaded this ebook to my Nook library on April 14, 2014 when it was offered for free from Barnes and Noble.
It is entertaining for those of us who enjoy reading about small-town characters who maintain life-long grudges and limited possibilities. It is fun to read about, as long as I do not have to live it.
If you enjoy the books by Fannie Flagg, this book may be another suggestion for your reading.

>Sweet WaterSweet Water by Christina Baker Kline
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I downloaded this ebook to my Nook library on April 8, 2014.
I am uncomfortable about recommending this book, not because it is not well-written, but because the topics of family secrets and small-town gossip and trying to fit-in to new social circles may be an uncomfortable topic.
