About Me

My photo
I'm a reader who enjoys posting comments and recommendations about the books I read. You will not find a synopsis with my recommendations because you can just click on the book title for a link to www.goodreads.com for a synopsis and reviews by other readers. I prefer the 3 Reason format: the reason I chose to read it; the reason I liked (or disliked) the book; and the reason I recommend it.

A Simple Amish ChristmasA Simple Amish Christmas by Vannetta Chapman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This has been in My Digital Library at Barnes and Noble, and I did not have it in my Goodreads' Want to Read shelf so I am guessing I originally downloaded it MANY years ago.
I enjoyed it so much because I liked the characters, and I want them to be happy.

The Asylum (The Forensic Genealogist #0.5)The Asylum by Nathan Dylan Goodwin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I downloaded this when Goodwin had an introductory special on two of his books.
The topic interests me because genealogy is a hobby of mine, and I enjoy reading historical fiction.
This is a prequel, and it ended two soon and included two additional chapters.

There's No Coming Back from ThisThere's No Coming Back from This by Ann Garvin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I downloaded this to my Kindle library July 2023 when it was offered as a First Reads selection.
I like Poppy Lively and her Midwestern sense of kindness and decency as she tried to hold onto a job that an old friend helped her get as a "must hire." Poppy is a bright, intelligent woman in a stressful situation with the IRS who wants to protect her daughter's dream of a college education.
The story was so well-written that I found myself underlying some parts. I recommend this to other readers!

Designer Dirty Laundry (Style in a Small Town #1)Designer Dirty Laundry by Diane Vallere
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I downloaded this ebook to my Nook library on Feb 4, 2022. It was available on my White Nook when I was on vacation and I chose to read it instead on a different one I planned to download while on vacation.
I am entertained by mysteries of this genre where a spunky heroine thinks she needs to solve a mystery because the cops do not even think there is a murder. If this is a genre you might enjoy, there is a series with this heroine, Samantha Kidd.

Random Violence (Jade de Jong, #1)Random Violence by Jassy Mackenzie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This has been in my Nook library since June 29, 2014 when it was offered for a #FreeFriday promotion.
It is an investigation about a murder in the area of Johannesburg, South Africa. I enjoyed the setting which was new to me and the good pacing as the author tells the story.
The characters discuss the violence and there is violent scene with the characters. This is not a cozy mystery.

Role PlayingRole Playing by Cathy Yardley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I downloaded from Kindle on June 10, 2023.
I had difficulty following the conversations during the gaming sessions and being confused by the sexual label options. I liked the growing friendship that supported both characters through difficult times.
I recommend this book.

Winter CottageWinter Cottage by Mary Ellen Taylor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I purchased this Kindle book on May 7, 2023 because I enjoy the books by Mary Ellen Taylor.
Family stories that don't get talked about, and yet those same stories provoke the curiosity of some family members, and readers, who really want to know the rest of the story.
I recommend this book.

Piece by Piece: How I Built My Life (No Instructions Required)Piece by Piece: How I Built My Life by David Aguilar
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I downloaded this Kindle book as part of its First Reads and Read the World offers on April 22, 2023.
This is an interesting memoir that I might have missed without the information that he built his own prosthetic from Legos.
I recommend it.
