I'm a reader who enjoys posting comments and recommendations about the books I read. You will not find a synopsis with my recommendations because you can just click on the book title for a link to www.goodreads.com for a synopsis and reviews by other readers. I prefer the 3 Reason format: the reason I chose to read it; the reason I liked (or disliked) the book; and the reason I recommend it.

The Wilderness War: A NarrativeThe Wilderness War: A Narrative by Allan W. Eckert
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book has been on our home library shelves for a long time, and this was the last of the Eckert narratives I read.
I enjoyed the readable style of Eckert, and there are more than 400 amplification notes for more detail. Eight pages of principal sources and ten pages of index make this suitable reading for a student of history who may need to clarify information for papers. This is the story of a forty-year time period 1740-1780, set mainly in upstate New York and Pennsylvania; a story that begins with the birth of Thayendanegea, known also as Chief Joseph Brant and ends with the report to Congress by Major General John Sullivan about "the greatest expedition ever to be mounted against the Indians of North America to this time."
I recommend this book to mature students of history for Eckert includes depictions of violence and torture.

Fatal JudgmentFatal Judgment by Irene Hannon
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I downloaded this book from BN.com when it was free.
This book is in the genre of inspirational romantic suspense. The rating dropped from 3 to 2 because it sometimes went a bit too long with the professing of faith and long lingering thoughts during meaningful looks.
I recommend it to readers of Christian inspirational romantic suspense. Lifetime movies or PIXL channel ought to take an option on it.

The Supremes at Earl's All-You-Can-EatThe Supremes at Earl's All-You-Can-Eat by Edward Kelsey Moore
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I like books about small town life and close relationships with friends with lots of humor. I also like writers who make commonplace things magical with the words used to describe them. Here is a favorite quote from the book:
I was free to appreciate the quiet and the way the yellowish-gray light of the rising sun entered the room, turning everything from black and white to color. The journey from Kansas to Oz right in my own kitchen.

I recommend it to readers who also enjoy Fannie Flagg's books and Jan Karon's books.

Leaving Everything Most LovedLeaving Everything Most Loved by Jacqueline Winspear
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the tenth Maisie Dobbs book, and I eagerly look forward to each new one. I was not disappointed. Winspear does a good job of creating the atmosphere of 1932 London as she needs the information to bring progress to the story of Maisie's investigation into the murder of an Indian woman and Billie Beale's investigation into the disappearance of a teenaged boy. I enjoy the complexity Winspear gives to the characters.
I recommend this to fans of the series and to first-time readers.

The Family Way (Molly Murphy, #12)The Family Way by Rhys Bowen
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was the twelfth book in the Molly Murphy series, and I eagerly anticipated the release because I wanted to see how marriage and pregnancy might change Molly. I was disappointed by the lack of maturity that I hoped the author might write into the story with these events. Sure, we readers still want Molly to be our feisty girl, but she shows no interest in stopping or modifying reckless behavior, and no interest in working toward a compromise with Daniel. She even slaps him, and then apologizes with the excuse she was emotionally upset. No excuse for spousal abuse!
I recommend it to fans of the series.

Instant Self-Hypnosis: How to Hypnotize Yourself with Your Eyes OpenInstant Self-Hypnosis: How to Hypnotize Yourself with Your Eyes Open by Forbes Robbins Blair
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Instant Self-Hypnosis was free when I downloaded it to my Nook.

The author provides some good scripts for autogenic training. It may help break habits that are unhealthy and not useful.

I recommend it to anyone who wants to use the techniques.

The Glass Rainbow (Dave Robicheaux, #18)The Glass Rainbow by James Lee Burke
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

My aunt gave me this book when she finished reading it. It is a mystery-thriller.

This is 18th in the series about Dave Robicheaux. I found myself reading aloud some of its prose. I will always remember what the short version of the Serenity Prayer is.

I recommend it to fans of the series.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I bought this as a souvenir during a visit to the Library of Congress.
This book serves its purpose for it has many pictures, its text tells the history, and its text describes the many services the Library of Congress provides to our representatives and to the public.
I recommend it as a souvenir.

The Truth about Cruise Ships: A Cruise Ship Officer Survives the Work, Adventure, Alcohol, and Sex of Ship LifeThe Truth about Cruise Ships: A Cruise Ship Officer Survives the Work, Adventure, Alcohol, and Sex of Ship Life by Jay Herring
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book was recommended to me by another passenger on a cruise ship.
This starts as an interesting memoir by a 28-year old man who decides an 8-month contract with Carnival Cruises is a better option for someone with an I/S resume than continuing to live with his parents when he loses his job and has not found another on land. The culture of working where you live and being on-call even when you are drunk deteriorates into anecdotes that might begin with, "I was so wasted when..."
I recommend it to people who enjoy reading gossip about people they don't know.

Gap Creek: The Story of a MarriageGap Creek: The Story of a Marriage by Robert Morgan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Gap Creek was free when I downloaded it to my Nook.

A reader of romances might be tempted to select this book for its subtitle is "The Story of a Marriage," and that may disappoint for this book is more about tough times and persevering.

Instead of this book, I prefer to recommend books by author Jesse Stuart.

Untouchable was free when I downloaded it to my Nook.

It is well-written.

I do not know to whom I would recommend this book for it makes me so sad.
