About Me

My photo
I'm a reader who enjoys posting comments and recommendations about the books I read. You will not find a synopsis with my recommendations because you can just click on the book title for a link to www.goodreads.com for a synopsis and reviews by other readers. I prefer the 3 Reason format: the reason I chose to read it; the reason I liked (or disliked) the book; and the reason I recommend it.

Last NoelLast Noel by Michael Malone
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This ebook has been in my Nook library since 2012 when I downloaded it for free from Barnes and Noble.
I'm glad I finally took the time to read it because this book feels as if it will be memorable enough to stay with me for a longtime. The settings and characters are so distinct that I might recognize them if ever we were to meet, or I might be disappointed how Hollywood might cast them.
I recommend this to all readers, and I suggest a box of Kleenex nearby.

Tinderbox (Flashpoint, #1)Tinderbox by Rachel  Grant
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This ebook was Barnes and Noble's Serial Read selection for January 2020. It is an adventure story set in current time in Djibouti where a paleo-archaeologist gets involved with local and international politics and Green Berets are necessary for security.
I would give it four stars for the adventure story and its likeable characters who show development during this storyline. I took away a star because the sexual scenes are too graphic for this prudish reader.

The Covenant (Abram's Daughters, #1)The Covenant by Beverly Lewis
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I took a star away because I prefer books to have more definite endings, as if it may be a stand-alone, instead of a long introduction to a series.

Zentangle 2, Expanded Workbook EditionZentangle 2, Expanded Workbook Edition by Suzanne McNeill
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I borrowed this from my local library on the Hoopla app.
There are 40 tangles to practice and combine into zentangles. There are more suggestions for borders since this bok offered suggestions for the use of zentangles in scrapbooks and journals.
The directions are easy to follow.

Everything is FigureoutableEverything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I borrowed this book from my public library after listening to an interview with Marie Forleo on the Feel Better, Live More podcast with Dr. Chatterjee.
One feature I liked about this book is the eight "Insights to Action" challenges with the questions that may help get past excuses, acknowledge fears, acknowledge perfectionism, and other topics. I made notes of these so that I may return to review the topics. There are bonus features offered online and links to webcasts episodes for her MarieTVchannel.
I recommend to all readers, including those ready to read Young Adult. There is some language that may offend some readers.

Moonwalking with Einstein: The Art and Science of Remembering EverythingMoonwalking with Einstein: The Art and Science of Remembering Everything by Joshua Foer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book belongs to the genre of participatory journalism for it is the story of Foer's year-long training to participate in the U.S. Memory Championship. He discusses some of the tools for his training such as Memory Palaces, Mind-Mapping with Tony Buzan, Major System, and PAO (Person, Action/Object.) The end of the book has sections for Acknowledgements, Notes, Bibliography, and an Index.
This is for general knowledge, and not a how-you-can-do it.

The Tenth Saint (The Sarah Weston Chronicles, #1)The Tenth Saint by D.J. Niko
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This ebook has been in my Nook library since 2012 when I downloaded it for free from Barnes and Noble.
I enjoyed the stories of Gabriel and Sarah, and finally realizing how these story lines fit together. I learned a bit more about archeology work in the African country of Ethiopa. It was a fun and entertaining read.
