I'm a reader who enjoys posting comments and recommendations about the books I read. You will not find a synopsis with my recommendations because you can just click on the book title for a link to www.goodreads.com for a synopsis and reviews by other readers. I prefer the 3 Reason format: the reason I chose to read it; the reason I liked (or disliked) the book; and the reason I recommend it.

I downloaded this Kindle book when it was a Prime First Reads selection in October 2023. I enjoyed the story and the characters. IO had tokeep reading because I did not know how the author was going to wrap up this ending.

Killer Cupcakes (Lexy Baker #1)Killer Cupcakes by Leighann Dobbs
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This ebook has been in My Digital Library and on my Goodreads shelf since August 18, 2014.
I enjoy cozy mysteries, but I was rolling my eyes when this heroine bakes wearing stiletto heels and goes shoe shopping when she is worried that she will not have enough money if her bakery might be closed for the time necessary for the crime labs to process samples for all her ingredients.

FortuneFortune by Ellen Won Steil
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I downloaded this to my Kindle library September 2023 when it was a First Reads selection.
I was confused too often by the many characters. I had to go back to clarify who Edie was, who Maud was, and which girl was which. That confusion dropped the rating to two stars.

Deceive Not My Heart (The Louisiana Ladies, #1)Deceive Not My Heart by Shirlee Busbee
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This ebook has been in My Digital Library and on my Goodreads shelf since June 28, 2014.
It belongs in the bodice-ripper genre of romances as the cover clearly shows. It will seem dated as it was first published in 1984.

How to Manage Your Home Without Losing Your Mind: Dealing with Your House's Dirty Little SecretsHow to Manage Your Home Without Losing Your Mind: Dealing with Your House's Dirty Little Secrets by Dana K. White
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I borrowed this from my local library on the Hoopla app. I watch her YouTube videos and listen to her podcasts. I personally need the encouragement since my house is not a project with an end to routine tasks.

The Urban Sketching Handbook Color First, Ink Later: A Dynamic Approach to Drawing and Painting on Location (Volume 15) (Urban Sketching Handbooks, 15) by Mike Yoshiaki Daikubara (Goodreads Author) My rating 3 stars. Mike gives excellent explanations of the tools he uses and his techniques. I did not enjoy using this process because mine just looked sloppy, not dynamic.

Identity Clutter: The Whats, Whys, and Hows of Every Angle of DeclutteringIdentity Clutter: The Whats, Whys, and Hows of Every Angle of Decluttering by Dana K. White
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I borrowed this from my local library on the Hoopla app.
This Cluttering Deep Dive was what I needed to hear because I still have so much clutter in these categories of "Things I was Going to To Do When I Retired," "Things I Collected When Buying Art Supplies From Amazon Was My Hobby Doing the Pandemic," "Things I Need to Document for my Genealogy Hobby", and Identities Other People Try to Give Me."
The information helps me make Progress, and Progress is Better.

Decluttering at the Speed of Life: Winning Your Never-Ending Battle with StuffDecluttering at the Speed of Life: Winning Your Never-Ending Battle with Stuff by Dana K. White
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book has helped me. Chapter 16 about Craft Supplies and Chapter 25 about Decluttering Dreams had the most impact on me.
When we downsized 7 years ago, there were too many things I could not declutter because: I had plans for BIG PROJECTS; I had plans I made when my job was stressful and/or boring for things to do when I retired: and I inherited plans that other people made for me because they were unable to do those things themselves.
I understand why this 5 step-process works for me, and I am willing to continue using it.

In Harm's Way (Walt Fleming, #4)In Harm's Way by Ridley Pearson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was given this book many years ago and finally decided to read it. This book was the 4th in the series, and it can be read as a stand-alone.
The reason I give it three stars is the story did not keep pulling me along. There were too many side storiesthat seemed to give equal weight to the mystery of a murder.

Running HomeRunning Home by Bill Sanderson

The writing of this story was uneven; there were times I almost stopped reading it because the same information had been repeated too often. I kept reading to see if it ended the way I predicted.

Beyond the Storm (Quilts of Love, #1)Beyond the Storm by Carolyn Zane
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This ebook was in My Digital Library on my Nook, and it was not on my Goodreads Want to Read list so I am unsure of the date I downloaded it.
I enjoyed this story of healing and the characters the author wrote about. This book reminded me of the televised series about the rebuilding of Greensburg, Kansas.
There are discussion questions at the end of the book. This makes it easy to recommend to book clubs, especially Christian book clubs.

Hiding the Past (The Forensic Genealogist #1)Hiding the Past by Nathan Dylan Goodwin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I downloaded this Kindle book as part of a promotion by the author in July 2023. I heard about Goodwin's books because my hobby is genealogy.
I enjoyed the mystery. I am reluctant to recommend this book to readers who are not genealogists.
I no longer continue reading series when I do not care what happens to the lead character and the characters who surround him.

The Good Life: Lessons from the World's Longest Scientific Study of HappinessThe Good Life: Lessons from the World's Longest Scientific Study of Happiness by Robert Waldinger
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was the topic of discussion fora club in my neighborhood for several weeks. I did not participate because I had a schedule conflict. I picked up the book when a neighbor was finished with the discussion and the book.
I find myself wondering who else might benefit from reading this book and reflecting on the questions.

Love at First Sight (Cupid, Texas #1)Love at First Sight by Lori Wilde
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This ebook has been in my Nook library since August 8, 2014.
It is an entertaining story. Small town romances tend to introduce too many characters when that are unnecessary for this book, but may be part of other books in a series. The book was described as a sexy romance. I can only give it three stars because I am unwilling to recommend it to others who may not want to read a book that is as detailed about the bedroom scene as this one was.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was a novella that I found in My Digital Library with Barnes and Noble that I had not put on my Want To Read shelf at Goodreads. I read it now in an attempt to finish more books in the chronological order I downloaded them.
This is a prologue to series. The characters seem interesting but I am not looking for another series to start.

There's No Coming Back from ThisThere's No Coming Back from This by Ann Garvin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I downloaded this to my Kindle library July 2023 when it was offered as a First Reads selection.
I like Poppy Lively and her Midwestern sense of kindness and decency as she tried to hold onto a job that an old friend helped her get as a "must hire." Poppy is a bright, intelligent woman in a stressful situation with the IRS who wants to protect her daughter's dream of a college education.
The story was so well-written that I found myself underlying some parts. I recommend this to other readers!

Designer Dirty Laundry (Style in a Small Town #1)Designer Dirty Laundry by Diane Vallere
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I downloaded this ebook to my Nook library on Feb 4, 2022. It was available on my White Nook when I was on vacation and I chose to read it instead on a different one I planned to download while on vacation.
I am entertained by mysteries of this genre where a spunky heroine thinks she needs to solve a mystery because the cops do not even think there is a murder. If this is a genre you might enjoy, there is a series with this heroine, Samantha Kidd.

Random Violence (Jade de Jong, #1)Random Violence by Jassy Mackenzie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This has been in my Nook library since June 29, 2014 when it was offered for a #FreeFriday promotion.
It is an investigation about a murder in the area of Johannesburg, South Africa. I enjoyed the setting which was new to me and the good pacing as the author tells the story.
The characters discuss the violence and there is violent scene with the characters. This is not a cozy mystery.

The Bequest (The Birch Creek Ranch, #1)The Bequest by B.E. Baker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I started this when it was the Serial Read from Barnes and Noble for January 2024.
I switched to reading this ebook on the Hoopla app from my public library when I wanted to read the next chapter sooner than the Serial Reads timeline. The other reason I switched is my old Nooks do not use the system of scrolling down thru a chapter well: if I shift its position of the Nook, the place often reverts to the top of the page and I have to find my last read sentence again, and again, AND AGAIN. Yes, just easier to read with a library book on the Hoopla app.
I recommend this for readers of contemporary fiction about how these two women adjusted their lifeplans for their families.
