I'm a reader who enjoys posting comments and recommendations about the books I read. You will not find a synopsis with my recommendations because you can just click on the book title for a link to www.goodreads.com for a synopsis and reviews by other readers. I prefer the 3 Reason format: the reason I chose to read it; the reason I liked (or disliked) the book; and the reason I recommend it.

Great Rivers of the WorldGreat Rivers of the World by Margaret Sedeen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book has been on my shelf for 31 years as it was first published in 1984. I have enjoyed the pictures, and now I have the time to completely read the text of the essays. The essay about the Rio Grande was written by Edward Abbey.
I recommend the book for armchair travelers.

10-Minute Digital Declutter: The Simple Habit to Eliminate Overwhelm from Technology, Social Media, and Online Distractions10-Minute Digital Declutter: The Simple Habit to Eliminate Overwhelm from Technology, Social Media, and Online Distractions by S.J. Scott
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book starts with a bigger declutter project than I originally considered: social media plus all my digital devices including my Nooks. I need help with decluttering my laptop, especially the Download folder- Just how long to I have to keep update files? I have an organizational system that works for me; but, I need to purge old files. The authors offer the plan that might work for me: use an archive folder for those work products that I can't let go of.
This book deserves four stars. The reason for dropping it down to the third star is the authors increased my digital clutter by offering 53 free books through links to their websites, and I compulsively download free ebooks.

Heller (Heller, #1)Heller by J.D. Nixon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This ebook is still free, and it was a great opportunity for an introduction to a new-to-me author. I immediately got caught up in the world of Tilly and her story of how she came to work for Heller Security and Surveillance, and I could not wait to find out what happens next.
I recommend this to readers who want fully developed secondary characters and good pacing in strange circumstances.

Unfaithful WivesUnfaithful Wives by Orrie Hitt
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This ebook was free from Barnes and Noble when I downloaded it to my Nook library. It was originally published in 1956, and books such as this one were a reason my teacher Mrs. Thomas had such an aversion to paperback novels that she usually threw them away if they were brought into her classroom. Prologue Books republished it as an "inspiration for contemporary fiction...living record of crime, ...genres."
I recommend it to readers who want a noir novel to be scandalous, brutal, tittilating, and politically incorrect.

212 (Ellie Hatcher, #3)212 by Alafair Burke
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This ebook was free from Barnes and Noble when I downloaded it to my Nook. This was the first book I read by Alafair Burke, and it is the third of the series. It can be read as a stand alone.
The book does not start where the synopsis does with the online stalking of Megan Gunther, and that confused me.

This is another book that has been on my home library shelf until I retired and had the time to completely read the text instead of only enjoying the pictures.
It makes for great armchair traveling and provokes some ideas for future vacations.

The Trivia Lover's Guide to the World: Geography for the Lost and FoundThe Trivia Lover's Guide to the World: Geography for the Lost and Found by Gary   Fuller
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This ebook was free when I downloaded it from Barnes and Noble to my Nook library.
Each chapter begins with a series of questions, and then answers are given with enough context to explain why a particular type of geography or mapping is important.
I found it best to read a chapter a day or other small doses to let the information sink to long term memory before another episode of Jeopardy.

Promise Me ThisPromise Me This by Cathy Gohlke
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This ebook was free from Barnes and Noble when I downloaded it to my Nook library. Free Friday selections are an excellent way for me to discover new-to-me authors.
I was amazed how this reader got caught up in the stories of Michael, Owen, and Annie. Knowing how slim the chance of survival were during the historical events of this period of 20th century added to the suspense.
I recommend this book to all readers, especially those who like historical fiction.

Faery: the Final Frontier ( Lilith and the Faeries Series #3)Faery: the Final Frontier by Cathy A. Corn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I eagerly anticipated the release of the third book in the series with Lilith and Adam, and I purchased it for my Nook library.
Lilith and Adam's adventures took them from Pittsburgh to a mountain in the jungle of Ecuador back to New York city. There is another trip to Sedona for Lilith but Adam has to stay home to work. They are accompanied by urban shamans who need their help.
I recommend this book who enjoy romance mixed with the paranormal, and to those who may have read the books by Carlos Castaneda.

Deadly Aim (Angel Delaney Mysteries, #1)Deadly Aim by Patricia H. Rushford
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This ebook was free when I downloaded if from Barnes and Noble to my Nook library in 2012. This gives me the opportunity to try a new-to-me author.

The premise of the mystery of the death of a 12-year-old Black child allegedly caused by a white police officer is as timely in 2015 as it was when the author first had the book copyrighted. Rushford draws the reader into the story quickly and has compelling characters. Her supporting characters are as well-defined as the main characters.

This ebook can be classified into three genres: mystery, romance, and Christian fiction. I recommend it to readers who like all three.

Splendors of the Past: Lost Cities of the Ancient WorldSplendors of the Past: Lost Cities of the Ancient World by John Carswell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is one of many from The National Geographic Society on my bookshelf that I promised to read when I retired. I enjoyed the photography before, and now I enjoy the text.
There are more than 250 photographs on its 295 pages. I had the good fortune to visit Pompeii to see even more than the writer discusses. The rest of the book is great for armchair traveling.

The Chronic Cough Enigma: How to recognize, diagnose and treat neurogenic and reflux related coughThe Chronic Cough Enigma: How to recognize, diagnose and treat neurogenic and reflux related cough by Jamie A. Koufman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As a footnote in a brochure from a voice therapist, I was informed of Dr. Koufman's first book, Dropping Acid, and I learned about this book when I searched the catalog at my local library. I'm only days into the induction diet which requires 2 weeks committment; but I see less hoarseness upon awaking and fewer coughing fits throughout the day.
It is a quick read of only 76 pages with the rest being glossary, footnotes, and index.
I recommend it highly to all people who have a chronic cough and who have been unable to get a proper diagnosis from multiple specialists. Even if you find the right diagnosis, this book provides better explanations and more information for diet modification than a brochure with a list of only nine foods to avoid.

OneNote & Evernote Box Set: The Ultimate GTD OneNote User Guide + Quick OneNote And Evernote Guide To Improving Your Productivity And Getting Things DoneOneNote & Evernote Box Set: The Ultimate GTD OneNote User Guide + Quick OneNote And Evernote Guide To Improving Your Productivity And Getting Things Done by Kevin Wood
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This set of three ebooks was free when I downloaded it from Amazon to my Kindle library. I have downloaded and read many Kindle books about Evernote this year, and this is the first bundle that included books about OneNote. Most of these books have good information for beginners. I'm looking for intermediate or advanced instruction.
The first book includes information about using OneNote for shopping, Christmas, job search, and vacation planning. The second book is an explanation of OneNote's tool ribbon which was helpful for me, but it may be redundant for other readers. The third book is about Evernote, and beginners may find it useful.
I recommend it for beginners who want to learn about both OneNote and Evernote.

I'm reading the 3rd edition, published in 2015. It was free when I downloaded it to my Kindle app.
The third edition has a Part 3 for the Evernote Expert and that includes Chapter 5, Life Management Using Evernote where she gives some suggestions using the GTD (Get Things Done) approach. Brown also discusses Evernote for Business which is a different app. The last chapter has 20 tips.
I recommend it for Evernote users who are still trying to find a better way to use it for your own life.

Don't Cry for MeDon't Cry for Me by William Campbell Gault
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was free when I downloaded it from Barnes and Noble to my Nook library.

I enjoy noir mysteries, and I looked forward to reading one published in 1952 and its copyright was renewed in 1980. The inner monologues of Peter Worden contribute to the mood as he comments on Los Angeles in the early 50s as the Korean Conflict heats up while he works out what he will do as his current income is an allowance from his brother who controls Peter's share of the estate. Pretty soon there is a murder that complicates his life.

I recommend it to all readers who enjoy a good mystery.

Paper Roses (Texas Dreams, #1)Paper Roses by Amanda Cabot
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book was free when I downloaded it from Barnes and Noble to my Nook library.

I often enjoy books in a historical west genre with some romance, and I can give it four stars for most of the book. It was the heavy-handed Christianity which seemed to drift from being important to the characters to making a point with the reader and the resolution in the last couple of chapters that dropped it down to three stars for me.

I recommend it only to readers who prefer sermonizing Christian fiction.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This ebook was free when I downloaded it from Barnes and Noble for my Nook library.
An educator who teaches Tolkein will have more use for this book for its educational plans, overviews, exam questions, and the additional source material than a reader who enjoys thought-provoking questions about beloved books.
I recommend it for those teachers.

Blue Moon over Madagascar: Lilith and the Faeries Series #1Blue Moon over Madagascar: Lilith and the Faeries Series #1 by Cathy A. Corn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I eagerly anticipated reading this book because I enjoyed two other books by this author.

The author creates compelling characters and creates suspense as the reader wonders how it will all come together and all work out. It is inventive for its use of a deus ex machina (fae ex machina?) to resolve the conflict between protagonists and antagonists.

Sometimes the transitions between those scenes with Lilith and Adam and those with either Eileen and George or with William and Arthur are too abrupt. As a reader I prefer to have at least double space or a line with *** followed by a space to let me know the scene changed. I read this ebook on my Nook as a download from Barnes and Noble so I don't know if this formatting problem will occur across all devices.

I recommend it for all readers, especially those who prefer a mystery with their romance.

No One But YouNo One But You by Jillian Hart
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This ebook was free for download to my Nook library as it is part of Harlequin's 2012 More Than Words foundation. This book honors the work of Mary Byberg, a committed volunteer for Nellie's Shelter for Women and Children in Toronto, Canada.
The fictional romance is between a woman who survives spousal abuse and her former high school sweetheart. The author packs so much stuff into this novella I think she may be more comfortable with a longer format.

I recommend this to all readers who enjoy this genre of contemporary romance.

Germs, Genes, & Civilization: How Epidemics Shaped Who We Are TodayGerms, Genes, & Civilization: How Epidemics Shaped Who We Are Today by David P. Clark
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This ebook was free from Barnes and Noble when I downloaded it to my Nook library. I don't recommend any reader spend money to read it because it repeats facts without showing the connection to the MANY premises the author has. The book becomes repetitive and boring.
I did like the four stages of response by political establishment:

1. The problem does not exist.
2. The problem is extremely rare, and in any case, is declining. There are more important things to worry about.
3. The problem has been highly exaggerated by irresponsible activists and popular journalists.
4. There is a serious problem, and we have been doing everything possible to deal with it from the very beginning.

The Road Through Wonderland: Surviving John HolmesThe Road Through Wonderland: Surviving John Holmes by Dawn  Schiller
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This ebook was free from Barnes and Noble when I downloaded it to my Nook library.
Some memoirs keep you reading because the subject is enjoyable, and some keep you reading the reader still has hope the writer can survive her circumstances. Some places in the book are difficult to read because you want the adults to make different decisions that affect children, you want people to avoid drug use, and you want physical abuse to stop.

This novella was free from Barnes and Noble when I downloaded it to my Nook library. It is the second in 2012 Harlequin's More than Words series.
The heroines honored by this book are Berni, Romi, Lexi and Marni Barta who founded Kid Flicks, a not-for-profit organization that collects and donates new and gently used kids' DVDs to children's hospitals and pediatric departments across the U.S.
It is a quick and enjoyable read. It makes you consider donating some DVDs.

This ebook was free when I downloaded it from Barnes and Noble for my Nook library. This book is inspired by Donna Fischer, the Arizona program coordinator for Casting for Recovery, a national nonprofit organization that runs fly-fishing retreats for women who have or have had breast cancer.
Krahn created compelling characters who kept me wondering what might happen next.
I recommend it for all readers.

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and OrganizingThe Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Update four months later:  This is the first book I EVER purchased my own hardback copy after completing the library's copy.  I wanted to be able to have it handy when I wanted to journal about it; I wanted to be able to write in its margins; and I wanted to be able to read sections of it again when I am stuck between keeping what might be useful one day and something that sparks joy.  Not only did I purchase my own copy, but I did it more than two months after I posted my original review.
**
I may not need to put as many clothes into drawers because I have sufficient closet space.  My closets and drawers do look neater. These drawers have stayed neat after 4 months of multiple loads of laundry.
I felt excited when I found a pair of sunglasses, and I did not have to buy new ones. I don't know how I will tidy my books because that thought makes me pretty anxious because my Goodreads list shows 868 books on my to-read list.I got my to-read list down to 787 with the help of my Dear Husband (DH) who was willing to let go of many books he had read and I had not read them because I was not really interested in them.  I was able to delete more than half of the archived books in my Nook library.  I find myself keeping those that are "Lend Me" books.

I recommend people who read this book check out the many YouTube videos for the KonMari method to get a visual of folding.  I especially like the series by Lavendaire and A Young Mum (She has more than23 videos called KonMari Whole House series.)

My Family Record Book: The Easy Way to Organize Personal Information, Financial Plans, and Final Wishes for Seniors, Caregivers, Estate Executors, etc.My Family Record Book: The Easy Way to Organize Personal Information, Financial Plans, and Final Wishes for Seniors, Caregivers, Estate Executors, etc. by Harris Rosen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was recommended to me, and other members of genealogy groups, by Thomas MacEntee. It was free when I downloaded it to my Kindle app. It may still be free for you.
The easy way mentioned in the subtitle is to use Word to make a document and to use its Insert Table function to make information easy to find, read, and use for our survivors. His good advice includes making a table of telephone numbers for your aquaintances (such as golfing buddies or Red Hat club members) that your survivors may not know you want to let them know that you passed. He also suggests tables for chores usually done by only one person in the family so the others may learn where to find the checkbooks and savings books, where to go for oil changes, how to start the lawn mower or the washing machine. The hard part of this book remains actually completing your own information and getting cooperation from others so you may write down their information.
I recommend this to EVERYONE, even if you are extremely young with your whole life ahead of you.
