I'm a reader who enjoys posting comments and recommendations about the books I read. You will not find a synopsis with my recommendations because you can just click on the book title for a link to www.goodreads.com for a synopsis and reviews by other readers. I prefer the 3 Reason format: the reason I chose to read it; the reason I liked (or disliked) the book; and the reason I recommend it.

Sacred Treason (Clarenceaux, #1)Sacred Treason by James Forrester
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This ebook has been in my Nook library since 2013 when Barnes and Noble offered it for free. It is historical fiction set in the 16th century near the beginning of the reign of Elizabeth I. Clarenceaux is caught up in the paranoia of those who seek to protect the queen from conspiracies to do her harm, and for the longest time he does not understand why he and Goodman Machyn have been targeted.

I thought the author spent too much time with a bewildered Clarenceaux wondering why he was targeted when he thought he should be protected. The last third of the book made more sense and I thought the adventure moved on from there.

I'm glad I was not living in Elizabethan times for it is too cold, too muddy, and too suspicious.
